The source material was obtained on a walk through Chinatown in downtown San Francisco on the afternoon of Saturday, December 9th, 2006 using a relatively cheap mp3 recorder with low sound quality. Tracks 1-3 were constructed from these recordings, focusing on the performances of street musicians. Track 4 is the source recording itself, presenting the rich, dense and lyrical city sounds with the unique diverse character of one of the greatest cities on the world.
